EPISODE XIV
A New Hope
Year 2007 is the 30th Anniversary for the first of the six Star Wars movies. As you might know, I love these movies. Besides, I found the story extremely interesting and would like to share with you here:- The Galaxy used to be under the administration of the Republic with assistance from the Jedi (good guys if you like). There was peace everywhere. |

By starting the Clone Wars, the Sith Lord (bad guys if you like) turned the Republic into the Galactic Empire and put it under his own dictatorship. At the same time, the Sith Lord seduced a young and powerful Jedi to become his apprentice and called him Darth Vadar (the guy in the black helmet). All Jedi were killed in the Clone War except two, namely Yoda (the little green guy) and Obi Wan. They had to hide away and tried their very best to protect the two babies (i.e. Luke and Leia) of Darth Vadar (who he thought were dead). During the Dark Age of the Galactic Empire, the two Jedi were waiting for the right time before they can fight back. |

With the trainings of Obi Wan and Yoda, Luke became a Jedi. Having the help of Leia (Luke's sister) and other fighters from the old Republic, they finally killed the Sith Lord and destroyed the Empire. During the last dual between Luke and the Sith Lord, Darth Vadar sacrificed his own life to save Luke, his son. And peace returned to the Galaxy. |

History simply repeats itself. January 2004 to June 2005 marked the Dark Age of DUFC and we hardly saw any matches during this period. No worry. There was always hope. Few DUFC Jedi believed that they should not give up, or at least should not give up without a fight. Although there were only 2 official matches being arranged and played, they still took chance to play football together as much as possible. It was, again, Wilson & Friends to the rescue. One of the DUFC Jedi still maintained contact with Wilson & Friends and he would then invite the other few DUFC Jedi to attend those Sunday morning matches. During this period, three DUFC Jedi (i.e. Jackie, Hoi and Winkins) would join in Wilson & Friends and played against each others. They would play on stone ground pitches. Playing with younger players not only improves their physical strength and football skill but also sharpens their strong mind. It is well worth noting that Jason, Michael and Lam all started to play with the DUFC Jedi during this period. This, on the one hand, enlarges the number of DUFC players. And, on the other hand, officially introduces Jason into the Team. Like the real Jedi, nothing would stop them from keeping on the fight. Playing football is what they want. There is always burning fire deep inside their hearts. They made up their mind and waiting for the right moment. In turn, they would focus on training-up and equipping themselves with new skill which might be needed sooner or later. Let me introduce to you these few DUFC Jedi:-

Hoi: as Jedi Master Yoda, he is the most powerful and wise Jedi Master. You seldom see him in action but he could fight like a hell when needed. A spiritual icon. |
Jackie: as Jedi Master Obi Wan, he is the down-to-earth Jedi and love to make jokes when possible. But when it comes to serious business, he would not talk but action. An old bulldog. |
Winkins: as Jedi Luke. |
Jason: as Leia, in fact a brother of Winkins. Although he is not a founder member of DUFC, he indeed plays an important role in 2006 onwards. |
After a very long 18 months, on 11 June 2005, DUFC played a match in Shun Lee Estate carpet pitch. This match not only ended the Darth Age but also kicked off the new era. We all hope that it would be a bigger, better and much more enjoyable period of time. (Remarks: "A New Hope" is the title of the Episode IV Star Wars movie which tells the story of Luke and the fight against the Empire.) |

"Do, or do not. There is no try!" Master Yoda "If you believe something is correct, then do it! And never give up!" Master Plato |
